On 25 and 26 August 1941, the Jews
of Tykocin - men, women and children - were taken to the Lopuchowo
forest near the town, required to sing under whip threats. The
unfortunate victims were machine-gunned to death and dumped into large
pits dug in advance. That day were killed over 1,400 Jews of Tykocin.
Poles covering the pits told that the earth moved from death convulsions
and that the earth got a red blood hue.
